The history of Muckrunners.
Throughout the late 80's and early 90's there was a 'turn' almost every weekend within a few hours from home. A group of mates from Geelong and the Western Districts would take to the roads and head off to run amuck.... Back in those days there were no drinks cards or limits on the amount of 'piss' you get at the bar the only limitation was what you could actually consume or take away without spilling it........... Many a times a 'super dogger' or 'hubcap' would be filled full of rum&coke if the supplied pot could not be readily located. The bands played long and loud and we 'tipped' a power of piss down our throats. Tucker was generally a BBQ or at some of the flasher 'do's' a spit roast was on offering. Most of the crew adopted the old philosophy "Eating is Cheating" and kept to the liquid diet...... The bar would close when the rum ran out and the kegs blew....... The morning after would start with seeing who was in the back of your ute and who the lucky 'swag warmer' was beside you............ After a bit of a 'dry reach' and a swig of the nearest drink usually coke that was tainted with rum from the night before the day would start with a roar......... The recovery usually started at around 10am so the circle work would start as soon as you could get your ute out................ Many a ute would be in the 'bull ring' carving up a nice fallow............and blowing dust..... I can remember paying $40 for a full B&S Ball ticket, petrol was around 6o cents a litre and we all drove V8's. A few of us would get together and make up sayings and slogans. This then turned into some screen printing. Within a short time we had a vast selection of stickers and would usually sell them on a Sunday morning from the back of the ute. Word of mouth spread and demand became very steady. All of a sudden the stickers started to pay there way......not only were we going to Balls, drinking bulk piss and sowing our 'wild oats' we were actually coming out in front. Demand grew further and Cam 'Knackers' ventured into the clothing range. The rest is now modern day history. We are all older now and our recovery rates have slowed so the outings are now limited to a couple a year..... Geelong Rodeo is the local event for Cam. The Deni Ute Muster is the annual event were Muckrunners are back............ GO HARD OR GO HOME...................
Cheers, Big AL
